I soak mine in cold water and washing-up liquid for an hour or so. Then rinse out and drip dry. Hang while still damp to stop creases.

Nets! I always think them down the road look better than mine!

We have net curtains in all front of house rooms. I live on a busy road.
I wait for a sunny day, then take one down.
I wash in the sink. No electric of the machine needed.
A cool water as I think hot might shrink.

Powders and wash gels, well I have tried several.
Net curtain whitener, Arial gel, Star drops.
My latest fad is Bio tex.Stain removing powder.
A little soak then wash and rinse. Carry the curtain in bowl to line and peg out.

I seem to remember - you have not to use bleach.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I've not had nets for years but used to bung them in the machine with biological washing powder.

I fling them in the washing machine with the white shower curtains and anything else (like sheets and pillowcases that are white), a scoop of biological washing powder, a scoop of vani$h whitener and wash them all at 40 degrees. Then I hang them out and they're dry in an hour or so.

We have to use nets on the basement rooms because we let them, and guests should be allowed some privacy, but more importantly those windows are a moth height and without them, the carpets get moth infested. Ask me how I know.
    Better is good enough.

When we bought our house, it came with a full complement of net curtains in every room. I am not a fan, particularly as this house was built in around 1900 and tends to be a bit on the dark side, and the nets made it seem even darker. I took them all down and washed them (just in the washing machine at 40 degrees with bio powder, they came up ok). I put just one set back up, in our bedroom which faces directly out onto the road across our tiny front garden. All the others went to the CS. The only other front facing room is the dining room, and to be honest I really don't care if the odd person looks in there as they pass :o

OK I washed my net curtains, I started off by hand in some warm water and washing liquid, emptied out the dirty water and started over several times.

I then put them in the washing machine on a synthetics setting and 99% of the dirt has been removed but I now have a new problem

They seem to be very creased, I have hung them back up and the creases have not fallen out.

They are obviously way to fragile to Iron, anyone got any other suggestions?

PS. Interesting point, I have a neighbour who has a bit of a drug problem, I have to keep my window shut to avoid the fumes from his habit. His net curtains are almost Green!

I have ironed net curtains, my MIL thought I was bonkers :rotfl: just try on a low setting.

Ignore this if they are not just ordinary nets.
