  • what about soaking in stardrops in the bath for a while?
  • I've used a whole pack of steradent on my nets... they just seem to have grime ground in... :(

I've tried everything you lovely people have suggested, but they're still yucky. I think it's because we live on a main road

My white voile nets aren't any more - more a manky grey colour. I've tried the stuff you can get to whiten net curtains but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
Anyone got any other suggestions I could try?

Try bleach just put a capfull of normal bleach into a bucket of cold water and soak the nets for a few hours before rinsing well, they should come up whiter

Wouldn't that make the material go funny? I didn't think you could use bleach on synthetics.

Now I recall this from How Clean Is Your House and Aggie placed a these curtains in a big bucket of hot water with a cup full of biological washing powder and a small cap full of bleach. She left them for a few hours and then rinsed in clean water several times - that worked!

I use Napisan, from the baby aisle, either soak in a bucket then wash or put in the prewash section of the machine, then a hot wash.

    Good Luck x

I inherited some very grubby nets in our last house - huge windows so I couldn't afford to replace them straight away. I soaked them overnight in biological powder then did them on a cool machine wash with a generous amount of own brand Vanish-type stain remover and them came up really well.
