Car Insurance - Date of Birth Incorrect
Hiya - Just had my renewal come through on my car insurance, and spotted that my date of birth is incorrect. Not massively but it's incorrect, the day and year are correct, but for some reason the month is incorrect. For example, instead of being 10-01-1992, it is 10-05-1992. I'm on an online-only policy (so annoyingly…

Birds pooping problem
I live near a school and have power lines running over garden, the power company put some sort of scarer up on the tower a few years back which let off a high pitched sound and 5 mins or so but that didn't last long. I bought a laser pointer off eBay which clears them away instantly, I was wondering if they will eventually…

Speeding - Fixed penalty or court summons?
Someone I know was caught by a mobile camera van @ 45mph in a 30. Reading the notice of indented prosecution it states that the threshold for a speed awareness course extends only to 42mph or 43mph (I forget which, but either way it was below 45). Will this automatically result in a court summons or is there a chance it…

Motorway Gantry Speed Limits
I was recently driving on the M1 and noticed that the gantry signs were showing different speed limits across the lanes (e.g. left lane had 60 limit, whilst middle and right lane were showing national speed limit). Also, this wasn't even consistent between consecutive gantries (so different lanes showing 60 and national…

What is a crossing?
Getting cross about this. The Highway Code gives jolly good guidance, rules even, on road markings and road signage. It is always quite simple, plain, clear text or symbols in a narrow palette of colours. So, we know the following is a crossing: And so is this: Now, this week,. one of the crossings in the High Street has…

Toyota Aygo Starting Issue
Hi i have a 2015 Toyota Aygo and since recently buying it i've noticed that there are quite a lot of times when it struggles to start, it has always started but sometimes it's a real effort (if that makes sense). Most other cars i've had start up straight away. It just seems unusual and makes me wonder if there is an issue…

TFL pay to drive autopay service
Hi I recently (in a hurry) downloaded and set up the TFL pay to drive app and thought the auto pay would be a good way to go. I didn't think things through and didn't check my car details before signing up. Turns out I don't have to pay the ULEZ charges for my car, so happy days! Then I thought if I don't need to pay why…

Dodgy registration
Seen a car that likes to tear it around on plates that don’t appear registered to any vehicle? And that in fact after speaking to a mate who knows them, is currently on different plates. Surely somethings wrong here since they are being allowed to do it for so long. Just thought to ask

Being taken to Small Claims
Hi, I need some advice please. Backstory - Over 2yr ago my wife had a bump in Tesco carpark, she was reversing out of a spot and hit a car that was passing. They both got out and exchanged details and went on their way. Insurance was quoted 2.5k worth of damage which I thought was crazy as my wife's car had literally no…

Salary Sacrifice Lease - Insurance Deal Breaker!
Hi. Was thinking about leasing a Tesla 3 with WeVee - but the insurance is nearly £3000 a year with them! (they tend to bundle the insurance in with the deal) - has anyone had experience of doing their own insurance instead of having it bundled in with the lease deal? Is it even possible? I have been told that the…

We have a garage the repairs and MOT’s vehicles and since E10 came out we have had so many customers having issues with their cars, some old but mostly newer cars, they cannot accept this new fuel and it is causing them so many problems. if you can afford it go for the premium fuel, it might seem a lot more expensive but…

ULEZ compliant changes
My partner and I bought a car in January that TFL had on their TFL vehicle checker as ULEZ compliant. We double checked this many times. Today we were horrified to find that we were fined over £300 for various trips into the ULEZ zone. We rechecked ULEZ checked and now says it is not compliant. What can we do about this?…

What are these patches on body of car for?
I viewed a car yesterday and saw it has a patch on the body, underneath the rear door. Does anyone know what these patches are covering up or if they are preventing rust? Makes me anxious to see anything wearing away. I've also seen similar patches on other cars and have attached pictures. Cheers in advance

Is there time limit for when a PCN can be issued?
I recently received a penalty charge from the Tyne Tunnel. It took them a month and a half to send me the notice. Is the time delay grounds for appeal? Thanks

Peugeot 107 (Auto) - Clutch replacement advice
Posting on behalf of my partner. Neither one of us has any clue when it comes to the mechanical side of cars, so looking for some advice. She has a 2009 Peugeot 107 semi-auto. We went away in January and on the drive to holiday lodge, the car started beeping rapidly but only intermittently. The car is quite basic and…
