Slight out of date but don’t use E10 PETROL, especially on newer cars

Options
We have a garage the repairs and MOT’s vehicles and since E10 came out we have had so many customers having issues with their cars, some old but mostly newer cars, they cannot accept this new fuel and it is causing them so many problems.
if you can afford it go for the premium fuel, it might seem a lot more expensive but honestly it will give you better fuel economy and it will save you a fortune in the long run and irrelevant of what people say please please do not run your tank to empty, it picks up all the crap in the bottom of your tank.

I use E10 in a 4 year old car with no problems except slightly lower mpg. I have used Premium fuel but it never makes any difference and seems a waste of money unless your car demands it.

That's been the case since the year dot. Well before any E10 or E5 standards were decided.

What are the 'problems' exactly that you are alluding to? And how are they caused by a different fuel mixture?

I have a 15 year old sports car that runs happily on either - and is about to drive to Germany tomorrow.

  • I have always had ‘normal’ cars but have always used premium fuel. The fuel consumption is slightly better so doesn’t end up costing that much extra.
So I figure it’s worth using anyway as it could be better for my car in the wider picture. (It might not be but if it is, it could reduce the chance of future possible repair bills as the car gets older.)
  • Pretty much fake news.
These modern cars have been running on E10 fuel all over the world without issue for a long time, the UK has finally caught up.

Probably works in the fuel industry trying to push people into more expensive petrol that will have no benefit to them.
  • Has anyone suffered any problems from running the tank down to min?  Isn't that what the filter is for?
  • @coffeehound, fine in theory, the filter will stop most of the rubbish getting to your engine but it will get clogged itself and need replacing.

    Why chance it ?
