Eeeek....police?
Hi All, Please don't judge - I've now totally learnt my lesson after an incident this morning that I'm really worried about. I commute 100 miles a day and this morning the M69 had come to a standstill I stupidly picked up my phone to check the sat nav to see what the issue/hold up was i.e. live traffic update...could see…

When to tell the car insurance company?
My son did a speed awareness course in February 2015 following on from an infraction with speeding. Now he has done it again so it seems his only option now is to accept 3 points and pay £100 fine because there was not enough of a time gap between this occasion and the last one. We are all on a multi car policy with…

Peugeot not detecting door open and relocking by itself
Oh has a Peugeot Partner van. Something has gone wrong with the electronic central locking system. Basically it is not detecting when the car is unlocked and is re locking itself automatically. Recently OH left keys on seat while parked and outside car talking to a friend. There was a loud click and it locked him out - had…

Two tows for one breakdown?
I've been with Autoaid for several years and been happy enough with them the two or three times that we've had to call them out, but thinking of moving this time, in part because we're no longer running two cars, and in part because of some worrying comments on here regarding the change of ownership. Alternatives I'm…

Mis-sold PCP?
Hi there. I'm really hoping someone can help me. I bought an ex-demo car from Mercedes in May of last year, on PCP and have just recently discovered that one of the conditions for the guaranteed future value of the car is that it must be serviced by one of their approved dealerships - if it isn't, there are substantial…

Returning a second hand car
I brought a car on 15th Jan and it was fine for a week. Then the boot developed a problem where it intermidently stopped working (I.e. refused to close). I called the dealer and they took a few days to get back to me. Only when I threatened to return the car did they arrange one of their approved garages to look at it.…

Major Problem!!
Hi, We moved house in 2015, and it seems that both of us didn't know that we needed to update our V5'S - stupid in hindsight!! However, my other half also scrapped his car at the end of 2015 and didn't send off the little slip telling them that there was new registered owners. We have now had a letter from a debt collector…

Should I downsize car?
I bought a Ford Focus 13 reg (1.6 automatic petrol) 5 months ago and then 5 weeks later out of the blue was laid off work. I'm in late 50's and even if I do get another job it will only be part time. So car is now being used to get weekly shopping and doing about 50 miles a week! At the moment Focus is all paid for but…

Fuel/MPG calculator
I'm looking to buy an economical car, preferably used. I've been looking at different fuel calculators to see how much my commuting will cost compare to driving. I found http://www.motors.co.uk/fuel-calculator/ to be quite useful, but because I dont have a car, I dont know how accurate those tools are. Any thoughts?

Petitioning for a pedestrian crossing - anyone done it?
Firstly I'm not sure what section to put this in so it's here for now! We regularly have to cross a busy road. It's on a blind bend and each side is largely residential but with two schools and a busy shop. During school hours there is a lollipop. Last week a boy was hit by a car on the bend. Granted, he was probably not…

Car rental issues
Dear all, A couple of weeks ago, I rented a van. When I returned it, a rip to the bumper was noted. I did not do this but I concede that I should have seen it and I've been burned. The problem is that they've invoiced the full £1000 excess! Surely a bumper skirt does not cost this much - in fact their own website cites…
