Either direct debit or a refund on the remaining months.0

Wasn't aware of direct debit payment. My understanding was that they didn't refund "unused" months now, maybe I misunderstood something.0

set up a direct debit , it will be taken on the 1st of the month (first payment about 15-17th) when you sell your car the DD will stop , and YES if you sell it mid month you will loose the remainder of THAT month0

You must have, as when the vehicle is sold and a new registered keeper is notified, the previous registered keeper should automatically get a refund for the remaining whole months worth of VED.Wasn't aware of direct debit payment. Unfortunately not. This is my wife's car, I have only ever once bought a used car and still have it!0 -
You won't get a refund on the partial month - you're paying for all of March regardless of when you sell it. You'd get a refund on April onwards though.0

Tax it for 12 months paying DD. Cheaper than getting 6 months tax.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Your options are to tax it at the end of this month, SORN it and keep it off the road, or break the law.My car tax is due at the end of the month, however I'm exchanging the car for a new one mid-March.
What (if any) are my options?
They are your only options.
Assuming you tax it, then you will pay for all of March's tax, and get a refund of anything beyond that automatically when DVLA are notified of the keeper change.0 -

Surely the only real option is to tax the car, if the OP declares the vehicle as SORN then how is he/she going to get the car to the dealer on the day of exchange, unless the dealer is good enough to send a transporter or an employee with trade plates.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Or the garage also do MOT's, and they book the car in for an MOT
