Peugeot not detecting door open and relocking by itself

Oh has a Peugeot Partner van. Something has gone wrong with the electronic central locking system. Basically it is not detecting when the car is unlocked and is re locking itself automatically.
Recently OH left keys on seat while parked and outside car talking to a friend. There was a loud click and it locked him out - had to get out breakdown service as he was some way from home. The other day we were at the supermarket putting shopping in open boot and there was a loud click as the car locked itself.
Once it is locked it takes several goes before it will unlock manual!y by inserting key in lock. Have looked it up on the web and found quite a few similar examples but no explanation. Anyone else had this problem and got to the bottom of it?

My son had a girlfriend with this problem. Admittedly a Peugeot car, not a van, but possibly the same cause. We solved her problem with the advice on this page, it was all due to frayed door wiring. http://www.nickhill.co.uk/peugeot_306_central_locking_popping_up.html0

I've got a Partner Tepee. It does auto relock after some time (less than a minute) if you unlock and leave it. Don't know offhand if it does it if you have actually opened the door after unlocking.
Otherwise as already said I'd be looking at the door switches and/or wiring.0 -
