Just had an email from Lidl, not looking good for the -60 screenwash this year.

  • I've never had an issue with Asda's own. I don't dilute it in the winter months.

Comma, it's good for -65 degrees undiluted or -24 degrees at 50% dilution.

TBH, they tended to be sold in the latter part of the year, Nov/Dec, rather than now, although I hadn't seen it at all so far. Good job I've still got 10L left from the previous year ;)

Aldidl screenwash isn't some magical blend of unicorn widdle, y'know. It's not going to be any different to any other screenwash.

It is the ultimate speed screenwash from Lidl that the op was asking about

have you ever used this screen wash and are you familiar with how well it performs ?

it is A screen wash that is rated down to -60 degrees centigrade when used undiluted and was sold at £4.99 for 5 litres VW and BMW sell a similar rated product and the BMW offering is £20.00 for 5 litres and the VW offering is a similar price

can you suggest an alternative that performs as well as the ultimate speed screen wash and performs the same in extreme weather conditions as the ultimate speed diluted with 5 litres of water gave -20 degree performance so you were getting 10lts of product for £5.00

Didn't come in when they did the car week in December - I was on the lookout, as I've just finished the last of mine.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yeh, you'll excuse me for not finding that terribly important, what with living in the UK... I think I can count the number of times I've seen much colder than about -5 in this country on the fingers of one very well-insulated glove. The coldest I can recall was camping in the Fens, one New Year - it allegedly hit about -12 overnight.

The only times I've ever had screenwash - of any brand - freeze are when I've been daft enough to over-dilute it. Damn near any brand, diluted 50/50, will see the worst of even Scottish winters off.

I use it as de-icer spray, way cheaper than the proper ones. It is also suitable for fan jet washers.

The Comma Xstream is a good alternative to the ultimate speed but the best i have seen is around £15.00 for 5 litres making it around three times the price of the Lidl offering

the Triple QX Concentrated All Seasons Screen Wash that gives -15 degree protection is available from eurocarparts at £4.99 for 5 litres and can be had a bit cheaper if used in conjunction with one of the discount codes that offer up to 30% off at weekends

I had a 2.5L of that in the boot and it froze when we had -14 and -18 temperatures a few years ago. The actual sealed container was like slush whilst kept in the boot overnight. The washer bottle had frozen solid with the stuff also neat. Thats when i swicthed to the Halfords -40 stuff and the cheaper -60 stuff from ALDI/LIDL. I stocked up on the LADI/LIDL one and have enough to see me through many winters.

Except that it didnt freeze, even at a 50% mix where the ASDA one froze solid.

I dont think the antifreeze in the engine is rated at -60?
