Lidl Screenwash Alternatives?

if you want to dismiss it because its from a discount supermarket then thats your loss.
I'm not.
In fact, I think the opposite is true - I think people are so enamoured of it precisely because it's from the German embassy's random aisle.
I'm merely suggesting that it's not the mythical unicorn widdle it's being held up to be. Screenwash is, on the whole, fairly generic stuff. The only real difference comes in the concentration in the bottle, and in the colour/scent additives.I use halfords concentrate, its the only one available locally with bitrex.
Would you be tempted to drink it otherwise?0 -

I used to use Asda own until it blocked my water pump and pipes with gloop0 -
Never buy any from Morrisons. Only one I've known to freeze above zero."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

Well I for another one miss the Lidl product, neat it smelt strong enough to knock your socks off and diluted it was amazing value. even well diluted it would actually defrost the screen without refreezing and the jets never froze.
I suspect its not sold as some were probably distilling it into 'Polish Vodka'.
Problem with cheap ones is they may be rated -5 or -10 but the active ingredient evaporates out the fluid left in the jets leaving a much weaker solution which freezes easily. Even worse now so many bonnets are lagged with soundproofing it can take many miles for enough warmth to get through from the engine to defrost them.
don't know if they still have any left but I have a pile of these in my garage, actually quite a good mix, smells pretty strong and cheap enough to use neat. Claims -15

I don't think its particularly responsible to contaminate the environment which is both poisonous and palatable, bitrex prevents animals suffering an awfully painful and stressful death. Obviously doesn't bother some people.0 -
Also, whilst -5 might be a worse case temperature, the wind chill factor on your washer jets of doing 70MPH on a motorway when its freezing will take it beyond that, so you're looking often at frozen jets.
Wind chill doesn't affect anything but the human brain. Wind chill is the perceived effect of a decrease in temperature caused by airflow on the skin but it doesn't actually mean a decrease takes place. The temperature as measured with a thermometer is the same whether you're stood still or doing 70MPH. If "wind chill" had any basis in reality you'd see it on your dashboard outside temperature display yet you don't.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. So how does a fan make a CPU heatsink cooler? and the hotter it gets the more the PC speeds the fan up and hence the 'wind' up to keep it from getting too hot.
I thought the outside temperature sensor on a car is put in a sheltered position so doesn't get wind cooled.0 -
Does anyone know what the antifreeze used is? Is it different between good and bad screen washes?0
