£10 to "remind" you to pay road tax and MOT.

Just in time for the new VED system.

Don't fall for it.

Its not a scam, its a service

Are we really going to go down the route on here on listing every car related website that offers a service?

The DVLA have had an MOT reminder scam running for years. You text your reg. to a number, and they text you back when your MOT is due, and rip you off for £1.50 plus standard network charges. :D (And you find that you have "subscribed" too so it isn't a one-off ;))

Must cost them a fraction of a micropenny to do as well.

How is it a scam? No one's forcing you to pay for it and it isn't misleading.

Its not a scam, its a service for those too stupid to remember when their MOT and tax is due, look online to see when its due or put it on a calendar.

Are the DVLA no longer sending reminders in the post? I got one last year.

yeah,I suppose a scam is basically dishonest, and works by deception. (Although the MOT one does tell you you will subscribe, I bet most people who pay £1.50 for something they can do for free won't know what subscribe means......)

Rip-off would be a better description. (grossly over-priced/not worth what you pay for it)

Many people are unable to use a calendar so this is not a rip off if it saves a penalty charge

Not having VED or MOT will not result in a penalty charge, more likely a fixed penalty/summons from the police or DVLA.
  • I've left my last car tax disc in the car and just look at it on occasion as a reminder. Dvla do still send a reminder for this.
The mot, sometimes the garage lets me know but I also check online
