van rescue/replacement service
I'm going to buy a van soon and need to have some sort of cover for the vehicle so if the van breaks down a 3rd party service can deliver a van to me within 2-3 hours. Or a recovery service than can haul the van to the destination. Do such a service exist?

Don't think vehicle registered in my name
Hi all... My father purchased a vehicle on my behalf about 2 years ago, with me knowing nothing about the workings of a motor or purchasing privately and just general stuff that he's hsd experience with before... He gave me the paperwork and I put it away thinking nothing of it and moved house and can't find where anything…

speeding fine, speed awareness clash with cancer treatment
My dad recently picked up his first speeding ticket. He has been offered the chance to take a speed awareness course, but this has to be taken within 28 days. It is his preferred option. Unfortunately he is about to start daily radiotherapy treatment, followed by a hospital stay. This makes achieving the above within the…

IN10 License Endorsement
Hi all, I got an IN10 added to my license in Jan 2011. (Long story involving moving abroad for a few months, having a direct debit set up to pay, the policy renewed, and money wasn't taken. Ended up meaning I got stopped by the police and charged for no insurance - my own fault I guess.) According to gov.uk, the points…

Clunk when driving over speed bumps
I have a Renault grand scenic, when I drive over speed bumps with both fronts wheels you can hear a really loud clunk. This only happens when both front wheels go over the bump, if I drive over with just one wheel on the bump no noise from either side. In normal driving everything seems fine... Anyone have a idea what it…

Twin Spark
My Jazz 1.4 has the twin plugs per cylinder engine dating back ca 9 years. Does anyone know whether the failure of a plug is detectable from the running of the engine? I've no reason to suspect any such failure but just wondered.

Does this sound reasonable?
Hi, The speedometer on my polo (O2 plate) had stopped working. The garage looked at it and stated that the speedometer dashboard had broken (The actual speedo itself is fine), and so the dashboard needs to be repaired. They stated this would cost 120-170 + VAT + labour (2 hours). Does this cost seem ok? Sounds a bit…

Cheaper Insurance
I'm thinking about buying/leasing a car. I haven't settled on any particular make/model or even age yet, as it seems the cost of insurance is going to be significant and it may well end up being a determining factor in what I do. I'm looking for a modest car - 1.6 diesel; 3-5 years old. However, when I get quotes on…

Does this sound about right? MOT, Brakes & Tyres
Hi all, Just had a call from my local garage. My car (60 plate Ford Fiesta) is in for its MOT and has failed on brakes and tyres. Already knew the brakes were an issue so that's no surprise! I've been quoted £340 for the MOT, replacement front disks and pads and two new mid-range tyres. Does this sound about right? Thanks
