Cheaper Insurance
I'm thinking about buying/leasing a car. I haven't settled on any particular make/model or even age yet, as it seems the cost of insurance is going to be significant and it may well end up being a determining factor in what I do.
I'm looking for a modest car - 1.6 diesel; 3-5 years old.
However, when I get quotes on insurance it usually works out at more than £900.
I need advice on how to cheapen the cost of motor insurance.
My details.
I'm 40-ish, and have had my license since I was 17.
I do not own a car, and last owned one in 2009. Up until 2012, I had company (leased) cars. For the last year or so I've been driving cars that have been hired by my employer. I'm named on the company's insurance, but don't have a car that's assigned to me.
Would using a broker help me get a better deal?
Any tips, I could use would be appreciated.

I suspect a broker would be a better option as sometimes they'll take proof of driving company cars to get a better price.
I suspect your postcode area is a big issue here also as the price above sounds very very high.0 -
Hmmm. Thanks I found a website that rates postcodes from A to F (F being the worst), and mine is a C. So not the worse, but far from the best.0
