Extra kit
Ordered a new car and as expected it doesn't come with a spare tyre or anything like that. I expect it comes with the locking nut thing.... What would someone recommend as kit to carry around that might get me to a tyre place if I pick up a puncture?

Are Jaguar parts expensive?
Just curious but fancy treating myself to something cheap, a bit different and that offers a bit of luxury thrown in all for under £1500( seems about average for a 02/03 plate) I know this might not come cheap in terms of fuel economy but have spotted a Jaguar 3.0 v6 that seems to fit the bill but know nothing about them.…

Advice pls on buying nearly new/ new VW Touran
Any advice much appreciated. I started looking at a 1yr old VW Touran 9000 miles priced £15k. Then I noticed that the new ones (in a different dealership) were greatly reduced (over £5k off) at £18k, for a better model (with bluemotion) 0 miles, brand new. Fortunately I would be able to stretch my budget to this... but…

New Car - buying brand new from manufacturer
Has anyone done a cost estimate to work out how much more it would cost to buy brand new over a period of 3 years VS buying a nearly new car (i.e. less than 10000 miles/1yr old)? Both purchases via dealer finance on a personal contract hire basis and for a luxury model (Mercedes/BMW/Audi). The three German manufacturers…

Gear Stick question
Sorry if this is a daft question. Been driving for ages and currently got a manual. I have a habit of sometimes leaning my hand (fairly lightly I suppose) on the gear stick knob when driving along in some circumstances. Usually when I'm in 2nd or 4th for a while I think. A friend of mine noticed this and said I shouldn't…

Dealer add-ons
Interested in the value some of you would put on something like this - http://www.arnoldclark.com/value-range/ Is it worth the piece of mind or should I just buy elsewhere, stick the extra ~£500 in a savings account in anticipation of the first service?

Automatic to manual licence - classed as a new driver?
If upgrading from an auto to a manual licence, I was wondering following a manual pass whether a driver would be classed as a 'new driver', in regard to insurance or the time a full licence was held (can't think of a better way to phrase it). Some things require a full licence to be held for x number of years - would this…

Tyre Pressure- Charge at Garages and service stations
It was nice to when I filled up with petrol at a service station in Sainsburys that the tyre pressure machine was free. Shell used to offer this facility but now charge for this function as do many other garages and service stations which seems very unfair. You do not get much time for your money and it cost me nearly a £1…

How long after RTC can you claim from a 3rd party??
On 13/05 this year I was driving slowly about 15-20mph along a very narrow road lined with parked cars when heard a loud bang, looking in the mirror to see a car poking out, roll back into a space.. A girl in a parked car on the wrong side parked against the flow, was creeping out with steering on full lock trying to see…

Weird dodgy monthly tax buying site
Came across this site claiming to be some sort of monthly saving scheme to pay for your car tax. Bit like a Christmas hamper scheme. :rotfl: http://www.ddvehicletax.co.uk No proper contact or company information on the site. Just screams dodgyness.

Selling a car - best money saving way - gumtree/autotrade?
I'm thinking about selling one of my cars soon (a 14 year old diesel 206, with 130k on the clock), and want to get the best price for it - I'm in no hurry and can allow a couple of months. What are the best places to advertise? Gumtree - free, but how many buyers look there? Ebay - not free, but I'm a fairly experienced…

The Auto Group warranty problem
Has anyone had any dealings with The Auto Group? They seem to have a standard practise of turning down claims on the grounds of wear and tear without any investigations. Leave customers having to do all the work proving different.

V5C/3 - Yellow Trader Slip
Sold my old 206 to a quasi vehicle dismantler who is going to fix it up and give it to his son. He filled out the yellow trader slip of the V5C and took the rest of the V5C away. I've posted the trader slip to Swansea, will I get confirmation in post that I am no longer the registered keeper, same way that I would get it…

UK & european car breakdown cover
I need new car breakdown cover. I would need an annual UK policy but with a short european trip (15 days) also covered. I cannot seem to add the european trip as a bolt-on. I can only find annual UK cover OR european cover (price jumps us hugely). Alternatively I can find a single trip fixed dates cover. Do I need to buy…
