Today I received an email from E-ZPass saying I hadn't paid a toll with a link to see the invoice
At first I thought it was a scam since I never use toll roads so I checked the Zip file with my virus scanner
If you get such an email DON'T OPEN IT.
Send it to your trash bin

E-ZPass

    I'm guessing it wasn't from EZpass :)

And particularly stupid because EZ-Pass only operates in the US.

And even Americans aren't as bad at using the English language as whoever wrote that!

And you thought that armed with only a car registration number they knew your email address?

The same could be said of any email containing a .zip file. Just don't bother.

I used to get mail purporting to be from Fed-Ex informing me of a missed parcel delivery.

Exactly, and surely everybody who has any familiarity with computers know this by now, so there's really no need for threads of this sort.

Or get a decent email service that filters them out to protect you. Never have any problems with Gmail.

No-one is born knowing this stuff, and we all had to learn it at some point. Someone new to computers might find this information very useful. A lot of new users are amongst the elderly, and they were brought up in a more trusting age, so they would certainly benefit.

I get sick to death of people who email ('forward to all') the latest virus hoax, but this post refers to a genuine phishing attempt, and I reckon it's a useful addition.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

Thanks for pointing that out. I posted the warning with less computer savvy users in mind
