Sold my old 206 to a quasi vehicle dismantler who is going to fix it up and give it to his son. He filled out the yellow trader slip of the V5C and took the rest of the V5C away.
I've posted the trader slip to Swansea, will I get confirmation in post that I am no longer the registered keeper, same way that I would get it if I had just sold it in a private sale?
I took photos of the trader slip with his details on before I posted it for proof.

Yeah, If you dont get a reply in 28 days or so you can chase it if you wish.
But you did what they requested.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Get confirmation and hang onto it as you may still be considered liable for road tax and down as the registered keeper. Give them a call if you can or just write them a letter - if you do that, send it recorded delivery.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190

Yes you will, if after 4 weeks nothing, then contact them for peace of mind.0

Thanks, just want to make sure I have proof that I no longer have the car. I know what these part time vehicle breakers/do-er-up-ers are like, it'll probably sit in some yard somewhere for years.0

I personally would have been tempted to fill the V5 out in full with their name if they plan on doing it up and using it on the road..0

Yeah maybe I should have. The guy said he was going to swap the 1.4 engine (HG failure) for a 1.1 and fix the MOT failures then give it to his son for cheaper insurance. Said something about notifying the engine change at the same time as putting it into his son's name.
They were offering the most money so didn't want to jinx it.
Can't see the 1.1 being much cheaper than the 1.4 as they are both slow.0 -
Nothing wrong in any aspect of doing this if it's going into trade. There's no distinction on section 9 between selling to a trader for resale or for scrapping.0
