Came across this site claiming to be some sort of monthly saving scheme to pay for your car tax. Bit like a Christmas hamper scheme. :rotfl:
http://www.ddvehicletax.co.uk
No proper contact or company information on the site. Just screams dodgyness.

What a waste of time! Hope no-one falls for it.
As of Oct you can pay monthly anyway so their business model is a bit short term.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
The site won't even load for me. I assume that their business plan will be blown out of the water in November when DVLA start offering monthly DD's - unless the plan is to mop up some revenue then from people who can't tell the difference between their site and the DVLA?0

At least they dont attempt to look like the DVLA or .Gov.UK site (yet)
Clearly the site is in breach of a host of regulations in terms of identifying who you are contracting with etc but then a lot of very small business websites are.
Only recently registered and owned by a private individual as per http://whois.domaintools.com/ddvehicletax.co.uk0 -

And registered by a guy in Ashington... that puts me off straight away!0 -
Blimey - that's straight out the of 90's web design catalogue!! Although it appears there is some time travel trickery going on as its shows "© 2023" at the bottom! Perhaps all websites will look like that in the future!0

Interestingly, he also appears to be running an illegal lottery on the site by charging people £1 to enter his "competition", whereby for every 1000 entrants, one will get 12 months' VED paid. Hmm...
Can't help thinking he's kinda missed the boat with the new DD tax coming in soon - although he claims that his way is better because if you miss a payment, you can catch up later.
What a chancer.
So important question - does anyone know who to report an illegal lottery to? Police? Gambling Commission?0 -

Yep, Gambling Commission is the answer:
info@gamblingcommission.gov.uk
I have emailed them. Anyone else care to join me?0 -
If he is holding people's money to buy the tax at a later date, does he need to be covered by some kind of financial authority?0
