The best thing is, of course, a spare wheel - you can buy one from a breakers, then you have the problem of where to put it.
My Nissan Note came with a wheelbarrow wheel as a spare, and the full size one I bought is miles bigger, but will go into the space deflated, if I jump up and down on it in the boot (I may need help to get it out though)
The next best thing is a decent electric pump, like this one then you can top up a puncture every few miles until you get home(I have one as my spare tyre is flat, it will inflate whilst I am taking the flat tyre off)

Wait until they are £15 on offer, usually every 3 months or so.
Once you squirt the sealant supplied with the car into the tyre Kwikfit etc. claim that they cannot repair it (a big lie: they don't want to repair it, there is no reason a tubeless repair won't work if you wipe the sealant off the repair area)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I agree 100% with façade.
If at all possible, buy a spare even if it is one of the spacesaver ones.
Tyre sealant works in some instances, but if there is a split in the tyre or the wheel is damaged due to something like hitting a pothole, then only a spare will get you home or to a garage.
A spacesaver wheel isn't too expensive nor will it take up much space in your boot, and there may well already be a place for it to be stowed.0 -
Didnt you get them to throw a spare in for free in the deal?
If it doesnt have a spare it will have the kit you need to get to a garage. Unless you get damage to the sidewall in which case you will wish you did haggle for that speare wheel.
Buy a spare. I would like an S-Max but no spare and nowhere to store one. Silly idea.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have a deflated full size tyre as my spare, the actual wheel is from a scrap yard but the tyre is new, I have an electric pump incase I need to use it. It doesn't completely fit in the wheel well, but it's near enough, I have just put some wooden blocks either side so the covering above is flat to put shopping on etc.0

People complain about lack of spare wheel, but they dont complain about higher MPG.
Why do they think their new car comes with no spare?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If it doesn't have a spare - it will either have a compressor and a bottle of the sealant fluid - or it may have run-flat tyres.
Many 'prestige' cars have run-flats and therefore have no jack or wheel-brace as well as no spare or space-saver.
The extra 'kit' I bought was all of the above - a space-saver, jack, wheel-brace, the compressor and fluid, and an aerosol can of the tyre-weld type stuff.0 -

Presumably penny pinching by the manufacturer, if they can save £5 on each car they sell, it adds up to a few extra cases of bubbly at the shareholders meeting.
As if the weight of a spare wheel makes any appreciable difference to mpg or performance: if I was that bothered I'd lose a couple of stone :rotfl:I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

2.25 million cars registered in 2013. £11.25m is more than a few cases of bubbly. Shaving a penny washer off a car saves £22500 a year for the industry.0 -
I would at least buy a sealant/gunk/compressor kit.The man without a signature.0

Only one person has asked why you didn't stipulate a spare wheel (plus kit) as part of the deal.
No wonder they don't bother supplying spares any more, they must assume the general car buying public are mugs.
Best of luck trying to sell a used car with no spare, i for one will walk away.0
