Getting out of hire agreement - HELP!
My Husband took out a Hire agreement with Vans Direct (Network vehicles) in November 2007. He put down a deposit of 2261.88 then has been paying 221.00 a month. The contract was over 5 years. My husband now no longer needs the van (he is going from being self employed to employed and the company supply a van). I have just…

Honda Spare Tyre
Got a new Honda Insight delivered yesterday for my good lady. Haven't read the book yet but I think there is no spare wheel? What happens there then? Is it a case of run-flat tyre to the nearest budget tyre outlet? If so, is it always a new tyre. I always thought that having no spare was illegal? Thanks in advance.

Faulty car out of dealer warranty
I bought a Vauxhall Meriva in January from a local dealer. The car is only 5 years old and only had 29,000 miles on the clock, so I figured it would be largely problem-free. Unfortunately that isn't the case - a few weeks ago the steering started to "judder" when turning right, and then the EPS started to cut out…

Son has just passed his test, wants a small van (Bank of Mum and Dad) to use for an odd job building business. Up to now, his girlfriend has had to take him to jobs in her car. Ive looked at local paper/ebay til my eyes ache. What sort of diesel van would be best for a youngster who has learnt to drive in a petrol car?? Im…

Just witnessed an accident
Was on the M50 when a small lorry (7.5 tonne thing) pulled straight out as a transit was about to pass. Transit hit the brakes and i thought he had just done enough, but must have clipped the wet grass or the central reservation and next thing he is off to the near side and into the bushes. Hit my hazards and slowed then…

Hire car: 2010 Renault Clio
I've got a 2010 Renault Clio hire car. I've been seriosly unimpressed with the steering. The electric power assistance is so strong that the wheel is very light and there is zero feedback from the front tyres. It might as well be a mouse on a computer. It's also a bit notchy, so it won't self centre properly. No wonder…

Renault Megane - Exhausted Exhaust
Hi all, Just looking for a quick bit of reassurance so that I can sleep easier tonight. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a girlie-girl when it comes to cars (just cars though - I can even understand football and cricket!) and I'm freaking out a bit. I think the exhaust might have gone on my ten-year-old Renault Megane. It's just…

need a bit of info
Hi there, apologies if someone has asked this before, but I can't seem to find anything. And sorry if it's a bit rambly. I have just been rear ended by a bus. We were stationary at the traffic lights (about 6 cars back). We were about 4 feet behind another car, they pulled forward, so I was just about to take off my…

Road tax fine con!!!!
Okay, either I'm a complete idiot or just missing the point. My van was hit by an uninsured driver. To cut a long story short the van sat on my drive for months while I chased the uninsured driver. Sent in a Sorn declaration but apparently DVLA did not receive it. I didn't think anything of it as I posted it myself.…

Peugeot 207 CC Back Seats
The GF is hankering after a 207 CC but is a tadge concerned about the lack of boot space when the lid is down. Now as anyone knows the back seats of a 207CC are only suitable for a dead body or an extremely small child and are useless in practice (unless you have a dead body or an extremely small child). SO, is there, like…

Zafira Cam belt - DIY job?
All this Zafira talk has got me thinking I really ought to to think about having mine sorted out. Does anyone know if it's a reasonably straightforward DIY job? I'm reasonably competent mechanically and have all the tools, but no Heynes manual for it so I don't know. I changed the belt in a Peugeot 205 years ago and that…

Faulty VW Passat electronic handbrake
A couple of months ago I was run over by my own (empty) car when the electronic handbrake released itself. Injury and discomfort followed. Please can anyone with a similar experience advise what course of action they took and what results were obtained? Failing that, if anyone can advise what action can be taken and what…

Hanging low
My wifes car passed its MOT but an advisory was issued as the centre section of the exhaust has a small crack in it, and its hanging low. She thinks she parked up over a kerb, and because it hangs low clonked it I followed it the other night and it really does seem to sit away from the floor of the car, so my query is on a…
