Hire car: 2010 Renault Clio

I've got a 2010 Renault Clio hire car.
I've been seriosly unimpressed with the steering.
The electric power assistance is so strong that the wheel is very light and there is zero feedback from the front tyres.
It might as well be a mouse on a computer.
It's also a bit notchy, so it won't self centre properly.
No wonder people want a computer to save them from crashing - there's no way of telling what the front wheels are doing.
Thinking back a few years ago, Novas, 106s, Metros even. They were fun to drive. This is just a wobbly and vague mess.
Good job I'm not some mug buying a new one.

Same post could be made about the 2010 VW Golf I had as a hire car a few weeks ago. (1.4 petrol, Europcar spec)0

A Metro WAS a wobbly and vague mess, it was absolutely dreadful to drive. Trust me, if I put you back in a Mini-Metro you'd be more than happy after ten minutes to have the Clio back.tomstickland wrote: »I've got a 2010 Renault Clio hire car.

It's what the public have demanded. Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for!

Would say the same about a few car hire Vectras, the worst were the ones with the 2.2l engine, plenty of poke but zero feedback from the steering.
Hated every second of driving a vectra.0
