Good value car?
OK, don't usually post in here but in the market for a new (used) car so... I've seen a BMW 318i SE 53 plate, mint condition in and out, 102k on the clock. Full service history. £4000. To anyone a bit more clued up does this seem good value? I'll put a grand away in case of any problems, considering its age and mileage.…

Van Hire Pick up London/SE Drop off Northern Ireland
Anyone know of any companies that do this? Only one I've found so far is europcar who want £800 for a Luton Van for 2 days, would only be £190 with them if I brought it back to the original pick up point which seems ridiculous. Must be somebody out there offering this service for a reasonable price?

Buying a Second Hand Car
I need to replace my car and have been looking to see how much it will cost to get a car I want. I have found a couple that I like the look of but they are slightly out of my price range (£200.00 - £300.00). Is it too cheeky to phone up the garages and see if there is any movement on the price before I go and look at them?…

Help!! Problem with car I just bought
Hi I recently bought a Citroen C5 from a second hand car dealer close by. Its a Y reg and we paid £1,800 for it and they gave us a 3 month warrenty with it. It's been doing something very odd in that the climate control blows cold air out on the drivers side, but on the passengers side it blows out hot air. I took it back…

Scrapyard / Car Breaker Etiquette?
Hi all, I need some parts for my car and my local breaker has 3 or 4 of my model. An odd question I know, but what is the "etiquette" for buying from a scrapyard please? I.e. is there an accepted cost for parts (say 50% new value) or is it haggle as low as you can? I have to strip the parts myself which is fine, but should…

Discount cars online - any experience or thoughts ?
I'm potentially looking at a new car and in some instances, the online prices from brokers such as Broadspeed or Deal Drivers etc. seem better than I can get through the dealers themselves. However, these brokers seem to say that you indeed receive your new car from a dealer and that you pay them, not the broker. Has…

Shell petrol pumps
I've been noticing at my local Shell petrol station it is impossible to put petrol in to a round figure. I have searched and found another thread on the forum about pumps being inaccurate and I realise that it is difficult to measure such a small amount of petrol to a round figure. My point is that I can stop the pump at…

Most economical 6yr old small car
Hi, I would be really grateful for any advice. I have recently purchased a 1.25, 2004 Ford Fiesta which I have calculated is performing 30-35mpg. The majority of my journeys are all short often in rush hour traffic which may be quite stop and start. The car has just been serviced and has done approximately 63000 miles. My…
