Unipart GBA3072 EN 590 A/hr 72 R/C 130 This was fitted by Kwik-Fit but after being away on holiday for a week my battery was flat, the breakdown recovery man said the immobiliser had drained my battery as it was too small and should be a "heavy duty" one.…

Daihatsu Stopping New Car Sales?
I had an email from Which Car last night and it says that, due to the poor exchange rate, Daihatsu stopped bringing in new cars last November. It doesn't say if it means all models or just specific ones, but it did say that the total number of new Dihatsus sold in January was 22! If true it's a shame as I'm on the point of…

Cheap car insurance
I use quidco to try and get cheaper car insurance. Have had reasonable success, but how do you get insurance for 96p? I would settle for £1.00!! I am probably just cynical, due to my age.

safe to buy used car from unregistered owner?
Looking to buy a used car. Everything seems in order. Seller claims to have all previous MOT documents, spare keys etc. Only thing is, seller is not registered owner or keeper of vehicle. Claims he is selling on family friend's behalf, who live in the midlands. We're South of England. Is this standard practise?

Why won't my car start?
I was trying to get up a steep hill in snow, a couple of people pushing it. It was sliding about too much and reving. As I live just round the corner I decided to get my brother, less of a wimp then me. He went to start the car and wouldn't start. I only put some petrol in yesterday but the light was on and thought that…

Service prices
UPDATED: I had the car serviced at the dealers for £260 including MOT, Brake fluid change and coolant change. (supposedly my car doesn't have a cabin filter). But anyway, I have a few questions...again. How do you know whether the brake fluid and coolant change was done properly? Apart from looking out for obvious leaks…

Old cars are inefficient etc
I regularly read threads where people want to buy a newer "more efficient" car. Well, I've been doing some tests in my 1997 VW 1.9 TDi and by driving in a slightly more careful manner I've managed to obtain 53mpg. This is a mixture of motorway, A, B and unclassified roads. Generally I've been paying more attention to…

Recommend a car for under £2000
I am looking to buy a car for around £2000 and was wondering what sort of age car should I be expecting to get for my money. I am a new driver but would prefer a bigger car like an astra or something but not sure what kind of age to expect. Any advice would be great.
