HELP!! Inter-credit DVLA

Hi,

I sold my July 2008, filled out the log book, sent it off. Come to think of it I havent received any correspondence from DVLa confirming change of ownership.. however, one would presume the new owner may have chased up the log book if they hadnt had it...

Today I have recieved a letter from "Inter-Credit" stating as I have "ignored all previous letters the DVLA is currently preparing a claim against you as the registered keeper of an unlicensed vehicle." and it goes own to encourage me to pay £80 or face court and £1k fine blah blah blah...

I have 100% not recieved any previous letters from the DVLA to ignore, and I sent off the log book when I sold the car. Surely the new owner would notice a lack of logbook and follow this up??? I think the car may have been running out of tax that mth?? But I sold it before it had expired...

I have since had a look at the DVLA website to check the status (DVLA Vehicle Licensing Online | Home click n "vehicle enquiry) of the vehicle and been given the following info

This suggests to me that the car is taxed until end of july 2010?

What do I need to do? Im scared of being threatened and the other posts ive read about the staff at intercredit doesn't inspire me to rely on their empathy or human decency! I dont wish to admit any liability by replying to their bullying tactics but I also dont want to be taken to court or get in trouble...
If I phone the DVLA would they help? Or again like other people will they direct u to intercredit as they hold the file now?

No first hand experience, but I believe that DVLA can be quite helpful if you call them
