House insurance and building works
So, the situation: I am in process of buying a house, speeding on towards exchange. I have a few renovations I want to do to the house shortly after completion (removing a chimney, insulating a flat roof, and getting a new boiler). Looking at house insurance quotes, they all ask if there is any current building work - and…

Is it Legal to have two policies at the same time?
Hi, I will be getting a new car at the end of May, and have informed my existing insurance company, but found the quote for the new car expensive. As it will cost me £50 cancellation fee, I was wondering if I kept on with my old insurance (this expires in August) and took another out for the new car, would this be legal.…

VitalityHealth GPS tracking?
I am looking at getting private health insurance for the first time. I was interested in VitalityHealth because I would make use of some of the benefits so it wouldn't be too expensive. I have a question about the tracking. I have no problem with using heart rate monitor and passing them details of my exercise (times,…

Home contents insurance - front door lock not good enough?
I'm trying to move to a cheaper home insurance deal and thought I had found a good deal through the comparison sites - but have been turned down for insurance because of the security on my front door (not just that they won't offer me the good deal I saw online, they won't insure me at all for any price). I have a BS3621…

HomeServe sharp price increas
I've had the full Homeserve cover for many years. Last year it was £47.82 a month. Just had the renewal notice talking about improvements in cover - minimal in my case - with a premium of £62.39. It's now underwritten by Aviva and I suspect that this is the real reason for the increase. Are there any similar schemes…

My wife is 3 years into remission from breast cancer. She has to go to the USA for 10days, the chances of her needing hospital treatment for that condition are about .00001%. Car insurance - Adrian Flux brokers - BE WARNED
There is an involved "back story" to this, but, essentially, a week (the 8th) ago I got quotes for my wife's and my own cars via Adrian Flux brokers, and was persuaded to buy them then on the basis that I was told that I could cancel within the 14 day cooling-off period (the actual renewal date is the 19th). Then, having…

No Fault Claim - Advice Neeeded
Hoping someone can advise here. First off, sorry for the length, I did debate three separate posts for each of the three questions so if people think I should do that let me know and i'll delete and repost. Also, not sure if it is better suited in the Motoring section? My wife's unoccupied vehicle, parked in a valid…

Car insurance NCB reduced following claim
When I last renewed my car insurance a year ago I had 7 years NCB, the company I renewed with (Sheila's Wheels) capped this at 5 years which I now understand is not uncommon. Unfortunately I had to make a claim this year after my car caught fire due to an electrical fault, and my NCB has been reduced by 3 years. Now my…

Life Insurance advice
Hi, looking for some advice as I've no life insurance in place currently. I'm 27, engaged, mortgaged together, no children, my partner is 24. I'd be considered the "breadwinner" not sure if my partners income would cover mortgage/bills alone. Is it sensible to ensure I've life insurance in place and if so would 10x my…
