HomeServe sharp price increas

I've had the full Homeserve cover for many years. Last year it was £47.82 a month. Just had the renewal notice talking about improvements in cover - minimal in my case - with a premium of £62.39.

It's now underwritten by Aviva and I suspect that this is the real reason for the increase.

Are there any similar schemes available?

You say "full cover", what do you get for this? Is it the Homeserve cover 8 on their website?

If so, its advertising at £14per month for new customers and £27.50 from year 2.

Perhaps call them and argue the price?

consider putting the money into your own savings account and draw on it if you need, they won't replace your boiler in all scenarios so you might as well.

Probably the ideal solution from a financial point of view but the benefit of prompt service without having to find local tradesmen is the attraction.

Moderately successful phone call. No chance of the introductory rates "but they are subject to an excess"

"OK,no excess on mine but how much if one is added? "

A £50 excess brought the premium down from £748 to £482 - enough to cover several excesses.

    Thanks for the advice

I don't know how good their systems are, but is there an option for you to put it into a husband/wife's name, as a new customer?

As it's property specific I'm not sure if that works, but that would more than halve that revised quote.
