Car insurance - Adrian Flux brokers - BE WARNED

There is an involved "back story" to this, but, essentially, a week (the 8th) ago I got quotes for my wife's and my own cars via Adrian Flux brokers, and was persuaded to buy them then on the basis that I was told that I could cancel within the 14 day cooling-off period (the actual renewal date is the 19th).


Then, having managed to negotiate a much better-than-originally quoted renewal with Admiral (done this several years in a row - get better quotes, and their prices will drop substantially if you have not made any claims or had any convictions !!) I called Flux to cancel both policies, and that's when the trouble really came to light! They managed to cancel the policy on my wife's car with relative ease, but when it came to the one for my own car then the truth began to emerge, as the twit ("polite" word!) who had set it up had also managed to include my wife's car (AGAIN) on that policy as well.


I called them about 3-4 times and spoke to goodness knows how many people, and also sent a lot of email and got just a few back - which seem to centre around the fact that my policy was paid for on my credit card and the policy for my wife was paid for on my debit card (and has, I think, been refunded to that as they keep telling me), and that is proving to be a crucial issue because they could not seem to figure out that they also had also received a much larger sum for my car and kept telling me that they had already refunded money to the credit card (which my card supplier confirmed on Saturday that they had not - or at least then).


Finally, I have just managed to confirm, online, that the credit card account has now received that refund - but I must strongly advise that anyone dealing with this company must take great care to check any documents that they receive, and not believe much (if anything!) of what they get told over the phone.


I did insure with this broker some years ago - but NEVER again because, IMHO, their staff (mostly quite young from my experience over the phone,) don't seem know their assess from their elbows, apart from the fact that they are desperate to make sales.
