Insurance for a trip with someone else's children

Morning,

Myself and two friends are taking three young people with special needs on a trip to a little accessible cottage for four days and three nights. Nowhere out there is the insurance world seems to know what cover we might need?

All parties (3 adults, 3 children) live in Sussex and we are traveling within Sussex - so clearly not abroad.

They are not related to us.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

What do you want cover for? cancellation, accident, damage?
  • Hello.

Just cover for the children like accidents and whether we need any sort of liability insurance? Cancellation and possessions are not important.

    Thanks.

In what capacity are you taking the young people, are you friends or carers, are you being paid for it?
  • One adult is an independent lives personal assistant. The other adult is a non-contract PA/carer and I am a teacher, but know the children through a playscheme.

We are setting a budget for accommodation/trips/food/fuel and then we earn what is left over, if that makes sense.
  • Independent lives for one of the children going on the trip.

... and then we earn what is left over, if that makes sense.

So it sounds like this would be a business venture.

So I guess you would need professional indemnity insurance. That might be difficult to arrange for one trip at an economically viable price.
