SORN Laid up insurance for cars all ages
Does anyone know of an insurance company who will insure laid up vehicles which aren't really old? I have a 54 plate Mercedes but had no luck with any of the insurers I've rung so far, they've all told me they only insure laid up vehicles over a certain age!? Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Leah

Cancelling mobile insurance policy
Hi, I was hoping someone could confirm where I think I stand. I think that I am entitled to cancel a mobile phone insurance policy within 14 days of receipt of the policy documents and receive a refund of the premium paid so far. I have just tried to cancel within 14 days and have been told that because I am outside of…

Contents insurance - van to Italy
I am driving a van full of furniture etc from the UK to equip a holiday home in Italy. It will be on the road for a couple of days. The van company do not offer contents insurance, and I am finding it surprisingly difficult to get contents insurance from another provider. Most standard insurers seem to not want to insure…

Electrical fire damage - who's responsible?!
Hello! At the weekend there was an electrical fire in part of the communal area of the block of flats I live in. It looks like it was caused by a surge in the electricity box. Anyway as a result it has caused damage to the central heating board in two of the flats - mine being one of them. The damage is going to cost £1000…

Is Rentokil insurance worth??
10 years ago we had a small area of woodworm infestation which Rentokil treated, although they never covered the gap in the floor. From them on, we have been paying them an insurance to cover woodboring insects JUST on the ground floor, the area they surveyed, costing 59 pounds a year. Since I am fed up of paying insurance…

Change of address payment
Does anyone or has anyone come across a payment because you have changed address? I was told by my Insurers that the premium may go up or down, which is to be expected, fair enough! I informed them that I had moved, and they got back to me to say the address had been changed and a fee of £55 was due by me for this change…

Reasonable amount of time to give me an invoice
I live opposite a main junction and reversed out of my drive and nudged a blokes car. I've paid for my light to be repaired and told him to send me an invoice for his small amount of work (he told me the estimate was c.£200). This was in April 2011...I've received nothing. He rang a few weeks ago and said he was going to…

Quinn Insurance being fraudulant to avoid paying out
I had a accident last year when my car was parked and somebody hit into the rear of the vehicle. I recorded him on my camera phone saying he would pay me £100. The other person did not want to pay cash on the return from the Bank, so I called the Police who explained he should exchange details. I then persuaded him to…

Problems with Co-op Car Insurance
My partner renewed his car insurance On June 27th. While he was on the phone he informed them that our car was now kept on the street (previously the car was kept in our rented garage). The lady he spoke to said she would update the system and get his new policy documents sent out to us - to be with us in 7-10 days. On…

Car insurance renewed without policy docs
Hi I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is in a strange situation. She has her car insured through Swinton and the policy was due for renewal in July. Home insurance claim nightmare, looking for advice
We were burgled back in the Spring. No sign of forced entry. We figured they either jimmied both our front door locks somehow without causing any damage, stole a key (cleaner perhaps?), or entered via the cellar window while were in the house and hid there waiting for us to go out. Tens of thousands of pounds of personal…

The company on the phone only asked for my name, DOB and license type nothing about claims or occupation. Dad paid extra premium and set the policy to renew at the start of September. I have 2 problems. A year ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and have had everything the hospital could think of to treat it. I am reliably informed that it has been eradicated by one or other of the remedies, the last of which (Herceptin given every 3 weeks) will be completed next March. So to celebrate, we have booked a…

Just found out my toilet is blocked in my house. The shower water was also very slow to empty this morning. Lifted the drain cover in my garden, and the water is right upto the top. My current house policy (esure) has emergency cover with it. Would this be classed as an emergency, or would i have to call out my own drain…
