Contents insurance - van to Italy

I am driving a van full of furniture etc from the UK to equip a holiday home in Italy. It will be on the road for a couple of days. The van company do not offer contents insurance, and I am finding it surprisingly difficult to get contents insurance from another provider. Most standard insurers seem to not want to insure the contents driven in a rental van. Does anyone know of an insurer who will offer contents insurance against this risk? NB - I am driving the van myself, no removals company is involved - which seems to further complicate the matter.

I think most people in this situation don't Insure and take the risk themselves. But there may be Insurance available at a cost. If you google goods in transit Insurance or marine transit insurance, you might find cover. This is normally for businesses, but they might offer it to a private individual. I have not placed this type of business for years, but there are specific transit policies. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Thank you. I have done a lot of googling (not just for transit insurance, removals insurance etc, but for bespoke insurers), and asking some of the businesses that come to the top of the list has drawn a blank ... so I have come here hoping to find someone that has some personal knowledge of this or a direct recommendation. The value of the contents of the van is not enormous, but as in many such situations it will be too much for me to lose, so I feel it is a very uncomfortable risk to take on uninsured.0

Perhaps find a forum that relates to people who have emigrated. Is there a forum for expat Brits living in Italy. I suspect you will find people with experience there. Unlikely on an Insurance forum.
When I arranged cover before(years ago), it was under a marine transit type policy, that covered the Contents in transit door to door. When I googled I found some Insurers still offered policies for household goods in transit, but these policies premiums started around £250. Perhaps they won't provide these policies to private individuals. They use to do this, but perhaps now they don't.The comments I post are personal opinion.
