Auto renewals on car insurance
Do they all operate this "dodgy" practice now. I don't like it one bit. Apart from the fact that they store your credit card details, if you forget when your cover expires, it precludes you from checking out the market upon renewal, or ar are they duty bound to send you a reminder?

Will a broker reduce my car insurance?
Hi All, It is the time of year to renew my car insurance. I have been round all the comparison site stuff and have my new figures ready to negotiate on next week. Was wondering, however, if there are any experiences out there as to how successful brokers are at securing a better price than the ones I have? Many thanks for…

Young persons car insurance
Hi Everyone I am trying to sort out car insurance for my 17year old son, I have gone through all the normal comparison sites and best by far is a company called Fluxdirect(nearly £1200 cheaper), I have never heard of this company and just wondered if anyone has had any dealings with them and what they are like thanks in…

Car Insurance - How honesty increased my premium
I would like to share with the other forumites something that happened to me at policy renewal time. I'm 40, have a clean licence, been driving for 23 years and have full no-claims. Pretty good chance that my insurance renewal is usually low. In July 2011 the numberplates were stolen from my car. I informed the police,…

Van insurance - premium increased AFTER taking out policy and paying in full?!
Hi Folks, My partner used a comparison website to find the cheapest quote for his van insurance, then visited the website of the company providing the cheapest quote to enter his details directly with them in order to take out the policy. On both the comparison site and the insurers website he was asked if he had been…

Is third party fire and theft sufficient for us?
Hiya, My car is an old rust bucket...my excess is more than the value of the car (my car is worth £150, excess £250). If the car was stolen we probably wouldn't even claim (if I am right in thinking it would increase premiums in the future etc?)... insurance for our circumstances is to 1) Legally be on the road 2) Cover us…

Car insurance renewal savings
Just to let you know I am 41, I have just renewed my car insurance and saved about £50 by using a comparison site then contacting the top 3 insurers for even cheaper insurance. My renewal came from Swinton and was a staggering £690 fully comp(not including the APR by paying by instalments), I only have a 2001 Mondeo…

Can a car insurance company pay out without contacting the policy holder?
I found out yesterday that my car insurance company had paid out nearly £3000 for a claim last year, that they never contacted me about. My son was a named driver on my policy and he slid into a parked car in the snow. He left his phone number and the guy rang me. I said we were happy to pay the damage if he got a few…

NCD - when does it get 'credited'?
Hi Sorry but I have a really daft question! My car insurance policy is about to expire and I want to move to a new company. If I cancel the existing policy before it expires do I lose a year's NCD? Is it better to renew that policy, ensure that an extra year's NCD has been 'credited', and then cancel & move to the new…

Unsure about income insurance?
Hi all, I've been looking at getting personal income insurance in case of loss of employment, sickness etc but I'm not sure if I'd be covered. All the policies I've looked at state loss of employment as redundancy and not being aware of any potential risk to your employment (impending redundancy etc). My contracts at work…

Who to insure with - Hastings, Direct Line or Insure Car Insurance
We are currently with direct line for insurance on one of our cars but as we have never had to make a claim we have no idea what their service is like. Our other car is now due for renewal and the quote from our current insurer (swiftcover) was way too high so we were thinking of taking that policy over to direct line…

mis-sold life insurance/assurance
I've just realised that it is likely that I was mis-sold life assurance when I took out my mortgage. I've been paying Royal Liver, £28 per month for nearly five years - totaling over £1600. I was single and 27 yrs old at the time - so it was completely inappropriate for me to need it. Critical illness/injury was also…

Insure in Town Car Insurance
Just getting a few quotes for my car insurance renewal and a company have come up through Go Compare with a quote thats £180 cheaper than the nearest quote. Has anyone heard of "Insure in Town"? Are the safe and reliable? I'm tempted because I'd imagine that Go Compare are careful about who they get quotes from as their…
