Travel insurance - Single Item cover over £500

Hello
I don't know if anyone can help. I've been looking to find some annual holiday insurance for myself and my partner, but can't find a policay anywhere that will insure for single items worth over £500. I own nothing that pricey, but he has a camera (c.£600) and a bike (similar value). Nobody seems to want to insure us though.
Anybody had any success with this before?
Thanks
Kate

People normally accept the limits that Travel Insurers have and look to their Home Insurances to cover items taken away from home. If you have Home Contents Insurance, ask them about the cover that you have at the moment and extend it if necessary.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • Hi Kate

Staysure insurance (over 50s) and Insure Me 4 (under 50s) both offer single item cover up £1,000, and more can be given at the discretion of the underwriter. I do work for Staysure so you may see my post as bias, however hopefully it does provide an answer to your question :) Additionally, as Huckster has mentioned you may be able to get additional cover through your home insurance if you are still finding obtaining single item cover difficult.
  • Your Personal Possessions cover on your home insurance will normally protect you whilst on holiday. Even if you have travel insurance its T&Cs may require that you claim jointly off both your home and travel policy
