travel insurance limitations

I have 2 problems.
A year ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and have had everything the hospital could think of to treat it. I am reliably informed that it has been eradicated by one or other of the remedies, the last of which (Herceptin given every 3 weeks) will be completed next March.
So to celebrate, we have booked a holiday, to start mid April 2012. The holiday, for 2 of us, will cost approx £11,000.
All the insurance companies I have looked at ask medical questions about how I am now, not how I will be when I travel.
And I cannot find any that insure hols more that £5,000 per person.
Can anyone suggest a solution - I realise it will not be cheap!

They ask about current health because they will have to payout if you cancel. If you are not worried about cancellation insurance a broker maybe able to help you lower the costs or just apply for insurance when you have finished all treatment. I'm not saying this is the best coarse of action but will probably work out cheapest. All depends on if you are willing to take the hit of losing £11,000 if you cancel.
As for coverage, again a broker will be able to find you a solution.
