cast iron cookware guarantee
I bought an enamelled cast iron pan from MrT Direct about 18 months ago. The makers gave a 10 year guarantee ( I have lost the form!) and the coating on the inside of the pan has been damaged , making the pan un-usable because bits of the enamel are coming off onto the food. I think I've already posted this somewhere. Mr T…

Legal advice - kitchen worktops
Hi First time poster - not sure if this is in the right place but here goes! We got a company in to fit some worktops in our kitchen a couple weeks ago and it's just been a real nightmare. The TLDR version: They came out to finish the job this week and the end result is still not quite right - one of the upstands is made…

Dining room to kitchen... Yes or no?
Hi all! My wife and I bought a Georgian 3 bed semi-detached house around 18 months ago. It's pretty much everything we wanted. The only compromise we made was that the kitchen is small at just 2m wide x 3m long. This being the case we want to create a larger kitchen/diner and have been developing some ideas... The simplest…

Is a 1600 sq ft house big enough?
We are a family of 2 adults and three kids. Ideally we would like a 2000 sq ft detached house but are finding it difficult to find one in our area on our budget. A new development is coming on the market soon with semi detached 4 bedroom houses at 1600 sq foot. Is this going to be big enough for us to live comfortably…

Leaking Roof - Mitie Woes
So, I've had a leaking roof since November 2014. I live in a council run building which is being serviced by 'Mitie', however, I've been having to calling the repairs department every month about 2-4 times a week depending on the circumstance because it remains the same. Back in November, we had an emergency carpenter come…

Carpet Fitting - I have to pay the fitter separately - who is liable for faults?
I have ordered some carpet and I have paid the shop on my credit card. The shop have told me that I have to pay the fitter on the day in cash. This seems a little odd to me. Who would be liable for any fitting issues? I hope it is the shop, since I have dealt with them and not the fitter! Is this normal practice?

Plumbing Question
Hi all, I have a triple valve which runs the shower, tap and hand held shower. This was installed around 18months ago and was running fine until now...... Now, when running the bath at full hot water setting it just shuts off suddenly. You can run it on 1/4 turn although this talks a while to fill the bath! Just wondered…

Surface water drainge problems
I wasn't sure where to post this; if not the correct forum, could it please be moved? Thank you. As per the thread title, I wonder if anyone could advise please? DFS Scotch guard protection - is it worth it?
We are looking at buying a new sofa from DFS and having children we feel protecting the sofa would be a worth while idea however it's £175 to have it done but you can buy the cans yourself for approximately £10. Can anyone advise if they have done this or do you think its worth paying the £175? Thanks

Recycling centres that allow you to take away
Hi There, I recently found out that my local Re-use and recycling centres have stopped allowing people to take things away - which kind of completely misses the point of what recycling and re-using is! I'm really upset about it, as I prefer to use recycling centres rather than have another forest cut down by Swedish flat…

resistors - safe against skin ?
This is a bit of an odd one :) Does anyone know if a resistor (such as this one at Maplin) are safe for use in non-electrical settings like jewellery ? I have at best only a vague understanding of these things, but think they're made of ceramic materials ? Any nickel/lead etc?) TIA
