Anyone know of any insulation deals?
Need to top up the loft a bit - but Wickes and B&Q don't seem to be doing those 3 for 2 deals on insulation that they are normally so keen on. Anyone seen any good deals out there on bog standard loft insulation rolls?

Advice with inset stove installation vs knocking out fire place
No not a DIY job. I had a quote for inset stove to install on where the fire place was blocked with a board by old owners. So it looks nasty. The room is very small. 3.5*3 meter but if we knock fire place wall down then it is going to be 3.5*3.5 meter. The thing is our neighbour objected on our cast iron chimney in our…

New tumble dryer, can I get an adapter to fit hose back of dryer end connector?
I have had to buy a new tumble dryer, hotpoint TVYM650C6P and I am hoping I will be able to get some kind of part to fit on the end of the hose that goes directly into the back of the dryer as I cant believe that there is no plastic ring on the end of it. You just have to put the squashy hose into the hole and twist it in,…

New windows and rendering needed
Definitely need new windows on the one side of the house. It is the cold side so would consider triple glazing...4 big windows and a little one, plus two small windows at the gable end of the house. Also the rendering on the house needs re-doing because of cracks - too far gone to fudge. The outside of this detached house…

Solid oak floor - lifting!! Enough gaps left.
Hi all, My flooring was laid in mid July. It was all fine until mid August. It rained heavily for a few days and One fine morning, the flooring began to lift. It's like a speed breaker along the length of the living-dining room. The fitter came in and looked at the gaps. There was still about 1/2cm gap on all sides. He…

Fuse box changed now blown light trips it
I had the fuse box in my house replaced about a year or so ago, it was one of the old style black fuse boxes where you pull out the relevant fuse (looked a bit like dominoes), now it's a cream box where you flick a switch. Ever since it's been replaced, when a lightbulb blows (when turning on the lights) it seems to trip…
