Towel Radiator electronic timer?
I want to put a bathroom towel radiator on its own zone so that I can control it independently (summer months etc.). It's not electric and only comes on with the central heating at present. Can anyone recommend a good but simple electric timer that would allow me to specify times when it can come one/off and also, where…

What is wrong with lithium batteries in smoke detectors
On the basis that the smoke alarms and CO2 detector drive the dog mad if the battery goes flat and the alarm starts chirruping if we are out, I decided to replace the batteries with lithium on the basis that they claim a ten year life. The first to require replacement was in a smoke alarm. As the chirruping noise (to…

Hi, I don't know much about Velux windows. We have 3 in total. 2 in bedrooms and 1 on the landing. What I would like to know is do they lose loads of heat? Re-insulating loft: Lay new over old or get rid of old then lay?
We moved into a new house last winter and compared to our old house it is nad-numbingly cold! The central heating was on constantly from December until May and the gas bill was ... well enough to make me look up in the loft to check the state of the insulation and it can only be described as poor at best. I guess this is…
