How do I know who to trust

Hiya

Okay so for a while now a joint in between ours and next doors (semi detatched) has been dripping/leaking when it rains and has stressed me out! A year ago we had someone come and seal it, well that didnt work and then earlier this year someone else sealed it and again straight after (like next day) it continued to leak/drip. So now I have an issue trusting people to replace it. I would do it but no access to ladder and being 7 months pregnant and it is quite dangerous. Lol.

I have found someone who said they will replace the joint for £35! And he seems nice from the few messages I have had. (I am v.happy to pay to get it replaced so I stop stressing about my walls getting damp and the house subsiding etc all because of this drip/leak :rotfl:) He is away from this thursday to mid october so said contact him in a month and we will sort something out. He said he will do it for £35 if the access is okay and it will come with a guarantee it wont leak! Lol.

I am just so paranoid of people fixing things now that it wont be fixed or what if they damage the guttering or fascia and cause my loft or house to leak and I cant afford to get it fixed due to being on smp etc! I am way too paranoid so was wondering do I trust this person and what are the chances someone is going to cause rain to get in my house from replacing a gutter joint? Please help me calm down! Lol.

  • Had a quick look over his page, and I can safely say I'd use him if I still lived in Brum - good reviews, good English, has an address and three telephone numbers on the page - seems like he has nothing to hide, so I'd go with him. Plus looking at the pics he's posted, he seems to do a good job.

Hope this gets sorted for you and you can put your feet up soon! :)
  • Thanks! I knew MSE'rs would put me in place and stop me stressing. Lol.

    Thanks v.much for the reply.

he doesn't look like a fly by night, and takes pride in his work , if you don't have nyone reccomended then you should be fine with him ,you could always ask the customers on his fb page for references or ask him
