Combined utility and WC
We're in the process of having some work done to our 1960s house which currently has a very large downstairs loo (approx 1.7m x 1.7m). I'd like to have a utility room and OH has suggested combining it with the WC seeing as it is quite a big room. I'm a bit reluctant as I don't like the thought of having them together. So…

Blown Loft Insulation or Rolls?
Hi, In need of insulating my 3 bed semi loft. Missed the grants so paying for it ourselves. Have the option of having blown loft insulation or rolls - rolls are slightly more expensive as there is more labour involved. We never use the loft - can't remember the last time it was opened so are thinking of going down the…

Kitchen expert questions - End panels and flooring
Hi there, I'm going for Howden's Glendevon Flint or Cream and have the following design. Kitchen Pic If you could have a look at the pic and tell me do the circled end-panels actually go to the floor? The reason I ask, is this would muck up the laying of flooring, which I guess goes in after the kitchen is fitted and under…

Gas Stove Question
Hi not sure if anyone can help, I would like to buy a gas stove. I already have a fire surround and currently have a fire basket in there, this provides us with no warmth whatsoever. Buy cheap and buy twice - new house
Hi Building a new house. Want to have opinions on the kitchen and interior. Originally wanted to have a cream solid oak kitchen, with granite. Carpet fraying at edges.
My hall carpet is fraying at the edges and I was looking for a solution besides replacing the carpet. I think vacuuming has made it worse as I tend to use the crevice tool to make sure the edges are clean which is quite strong and now it just pulls up more threads of the carpet. Would fabric glue do the job?

Emulsion recommendations, please
Having paid over the odds for a well-known brand of 'one coat guaranteed to cover any other colour' white emulsion, I was not pleased to have to apply two thick coats in order to have a white wall. Similarly, one coat of the above paint, plus several coats of ordinary white emulsion, were barely adequate to make the…

Are these conservatory costs a bit crazy?
We are looking at putting a conservatory on our new house so have had a couple of quotes in the last couple of days, both from big local firms but not National ones. To say I have been surprised is an understatement as for a 4x3.5m conservatory with glass roofs I have had quotes of £21,500 and £17,800. Neither of these…

Laminate flooring question.
I am having laminate flooring fitted by a local company. I have read that the packs of laminate should sit in my room prior to fitting. The packs of laminate are coming with the fitter and being installed that day. Is that okay?
