Carpet fraying at edges.

My hall carpet is fraying at the edges and I was looking for a solution besides replacing the carpet. I think vacuuming has made it worse as I tend to use the crevice tool to make sure the edges are clean which is quite strong and now it just pulls up more threads of the carpet. Would fabric glue do the job?

I guess it's one of those things that people replace instead of repair. Seems a shame though, because the rest of the carpet is fine.
