Is Neighbours DIY Dangerous?
I have a neighbour end of terrace attached to our house who is always putting up walls making smaller rooms to house the nine of them in a two bed house, along with all their animals. One of the things he has done is to remove a support wall, between his lounge (part lounge other part a bedroom) and the kitchen which is…

G9 LED bulbs?
Does anyone have any recommendations of good G9 LED bulbs that are equivalent, or close to, the light that is given out by the halogen ones I'm tempted by the fact the LEDS are about 1 or 2 w compared to 50 W for halogen bulbs, but so far not found the right one - the bulbs either look ugly, light is too cold (bluish) or…

Best flooring type for uneven surface
My concrete floor is not flat. There are a couple of small bumps, but it's also wavy - it goes up and down a few mm over the course of a metre here and there. Does this affect my choice of wood/laminate flooring? Is there one type which would be better or worse in this situation. Thanks

I have a lovely metal and ceramic lamp and shade that my daughter knocked from the table onto the floor. Towel Rail Help!
Hi, when designing my bathroom I choose a chrome radiator, pipes being 500mm apart. Pipe centres at 525mm. The plumbing and tiling were fitted/laid to accommodate this. However this radiator is now not available! I am happy to replace it with an ordinary towel rail however they all seem to have pipe centres at 460mm or…

damp inside fireplace
We plan on replastering our sitting room using a membrane to protect from penetrating damp - the house is built into a bank and the sitting room is the worst affected room. Shower getting cold
So recently my shower has started to lose temperature. Whereas before it would get really nice and hot, it now gets no more than lukewarm and keeps getting cold again several times during a shower. Why is this, how can it be fixed, and for how much? My boiler is also losing pressure, but apparently the two are unrelated.

Painting/filling sandstone
I recently read a helpful thread about painting plaster, which advised painting with a coat of half paint + half water, due to the porous nature of fresh plaster. Would the same/similar apply to sandstone? I have sandstone blocks under my bay window and a block above my front door. Both need slight "filling" in places as…

LED Recessed Spotlights
I have very small spotlights that just take a GU10 bulb. They are too small for LED bulbs. Where can I get a larger fitting (&how much)& is it a big deal to widen the hole? There are 11 altogether & am expecting to save a fair bit of electricity.

Kitchen Cabinets
Hi, We have just purchased a new house, and there are nice kitchen cabinets there, which appear to be solid wood.
