oil filled heaters

can anyone give me a rough idea of the running costs of oil filled heaters? Trying to work out the most economical way of heating my daughter's small all-electric kitchen before winter kicks in.

Unless you have Economy 7 and storage heaters, all electric heaters will cost the same per kwh to run.

It depends on the kwh cost from your supplier and the rating of the oil filled heater.

For example if you pay 10p per kwh for electricity from your supplier
and use a 1kw heater on full for 24 hours it would cost £2.40 to run for that period of time. Realistically with a timer and thermostat control it would be somewhat less
  • The only difference is that the oil filled radiators take longer to get hot and start giving out heat but continue longer after radiator is switched off . They are thus useful for longer term warming a room where other types are more instant on-off . All types of electrical fires and radiators have the same efficiency (100%)
