Broken Lamp what's the bits called.

I have a lovely metal and ceramic lamp and shade that my daughter knocked from the table onto the floor.

I want to try and fix this, and could use some help with terminilogy so I can buy the proper bits.

The first broken "thingy" is the bit the bulb screws into just above the switch, this "thingy" is the plastic bit that screws on and holds the shade in place.

Can I replace thingy1 - what is it called and is it a standard size?

the second thingy is the metal bit that the bulb clicks into, the little hook bits are twisted and will not hold a bulb now.

What is this thingy2 called and is it speparate from thingy1 or does it come with it.

The 3rd thingy is the metal bit that is held in place by thingy1 and supports the shade, it broke in half. What is this called and do I buy it separately?

Once I know what I am looking for I can use google to find out where to buy and how to fit.

Thanks i n advance.

Yes that's it - shade ring skirt - would never have guessed that was what it was called in a million, now to look for a brown one!

Thingy one is a shade ring or skirt - if the original was plastic then don't replace with metal as they have different threads! Plastic ones tend to be one of two standard sizes - 29mm and 45mm
The inner metal bit that holds the prongs on the lightbulb tend to be specific to the bottom of the lampholder (the bit attached to the table lamp) They sit into part of the plastic moulding and hold the prongs in the right place. If you cant find an exact match, you might be able to bend it back into shape with a pair of pliers!
Part three is a shade carrier - they come in 29mm & 45mm bottom hole sizes (29mm is the norm) and several different heights - measure this before you go shopping!
I'd recommend taking what's left of the lamp to a "proper" lighting shop - they tend to have a drawer of bits and will be able to supply you with what you need.
If you need to replace the whole lampholder assembly, it will need to be wired in by someone who knows what they're doing and replace like with like ie metal with metal so you know it's safe.
    Hope that makes sense!

Sew What thank you so much, I am quite handy at fixing things but have never had to fix a lamp before. Good thinking about a lamp shop, I think there is one in a village about 5 miles away, I may just pop in there.
