Is Neighbours DIY Dangerous?

Options
I have a neighbour end of terrace attached to our house who is always putting up walls making smaller rooms to house the nine of them in a two bed house, along with all their animals. One of the things he has done is to remove a support wall, between his lounge (part lounge other part a bedroom) and the kitchen which is next to my lounge. He used a support beam ( a steel) but certainly hasn't got in the building inspector in nor had any calculations done by an engineer. Is this dangerous and would it have any structural effect on my house?

Also he has put plaster boards under his glass cieling in an old second hand victorian style conservatory, he has run a wall down one third of it, one side he uses as a back hall and the other side he uses as a lounge. Would that be a legal structure. It has definitely devalued my home, I'm not a grass but it is having an adverse effect on my living space, peace and quiet.

Sounds like buiding control would have a field day.

The supporting wall could be a problem as far as movement of your property if it is indeed not supported enough.

You can raise your concerns with the local council BC annonymously if you feel you need to.

How can it have an "adverse affect on my living space"?

How do you know he hasn't had a building inspe tor out and how do you know a structural engineer hasn't been involved?

But they probably get noise from your house. Noise from neighbours is a fact of life.

How do you know it was next doors house they didn't like? How do you know it's not our house that is simply uninhabitable?

Play if coy if your on speaking terms. Ask how much it cost him for drawing and getting building control stuff sorted pretend you want to do the same. Maybe even ask if you can see a copy of the plans so you have an idea of what involved.

That should give you an idea if you need to contact building control or not.

Where has the OP said the neighbour had touched the party wall?

OP can i ask how you know the wall / walls he has moved is a structural / supporting wall? Have you had a structural engineer look at yours?

I had some work done in my house and the builder told me that it was a structural wall.
