Having a new kitchen fitted next week - Gloss Cream Shaker with a Mid Walnut block worktop. Havn't picked flooring yet but think I might go with Laminate (unsure what colour!) My question is Tiles on wall! Originally, I didn't want tiles as I thought they were old fashioned and I wanted to go with the modern look but now…

Cheap modernisation?
Hi, I'm in the process of buying a flat which I know will need modernising when I move in. I want to re-tile both the bathroom and kitchen, buy new white goods for the kitchen (fridge freezer, gas oven, washing machine and dishwasher), paint all the rooms, put up a load of shelves, create two built in wardrobes in alcoves…

Belt sander Lidl?
Got a lot of sanding/painting to do Is the parkside belt sander at Lidl for £35 any good? If not which ones should I be considering for buying. I will splash out on a good tool if I think it's required but I don't mind (actually prefer) cheap and cheerful as long as it works.

Towel Rails - good or bad?
Hi all, Im after a towel rail. Ive seen they cost quite a bit in B&Q, HomeBase etc... But in my local discount store they are about £45. They look pretty much identical to the more expensive ones. Could this be a false economy? Maybe the cheap ones take longer to heat up and so use more electricity? Thanks

Moving a gas meter
We are currently planning a new kitchen and space is limited so I would like to resite the gas meter, which is currently in a cuboard under the sink to the external wall, this will then give me a useable cuboard in which to put pull out recylcing bins. I realise that this isn't cheap as we enquired about it several years…

Builder not VAT registered - Risk?
I am about to ask a builder to do a small piece of extension work to my house which is circa £5500. The builder is not VAT registered therefore his quote is lower than others.
