Fan stopped working in oven - cheaper to repair or replace?
My fan has stopped working in my oven. :( For about a week, it made a whirry noise, so I realised something was up, and now it's not going round at all. Given that explanation, does anyone know what is likely to be wrong? I'm utterly useless with such things. :( In terms of solutions, does anyone know how much it costs to…

No bike storage at my apartments?
Hello, wasn't sure where to post this!! I'm currently living in a privately rented apartment with my partner. It's a fairly new complex with gated entrance etc and we pay £550 per month. There is nowhere here to store bikes though which I find quite unusual as there's at least 20 flats here and a lot of young…

replace a radiator: DIY?
Got some underperforming rads. Think they are just don't have the BTU required for the rooms. Am considering replacing. Would you consider this a DIY? If there is a simple way of shutting off a rad and no more than a swap with fresh PTFE, then I might consider it. Would value your thoughts.

Painting over tiles?
My bathroom has tiles that have been painted over, with what looks like normal matt paint rather than tile paint. I can't afford to get it re-tiled for a while (and don't have the skills to do it myself), but I can't stand the colour it's been painted (a sort of yellow colour, which goes badly with the green suite!) I was…

I am looking for a mix of 60W and 100W+ equivalent energy savers that don't cost a fortune. I see some are advertised as "Instant On" or "Fast/Quicl Start". This sounds like a rgeat idea as it can take 5…

Leaking UPVC Bay Window
During some heavy rain last month I noticed a puddle of water on the inside window ledge of my UPVC bay window. The water marks on the plasterboard are about 12" long x about 1" right at the top of one end of the window. I also saw some drops of water at the top of the frame. I had a look at the top of the bay but couldn't…

Broken kitchen tap - help!
I've managed to break my kitchen tap, it's a mixer tap, and the cold water knob has come away from the entire thing (sorry it's not technical, best way I can describe it), and there's water dribbling from it. I've turned off the tap as best I can, but it's obviously still running a little. We've got the plumber coming…

Red Window Ledge Tiles
Hi all, I hope someone can help. My house was built in the 1950's, and all the window ledges on the inside and out, are made of red tiles. I'm not really sure what they're made of but they really do need some TLC! The red is the "natural" colour and I intend too keep them. Any ideas on how I can restore them to their…

Power washer 'repair'?
I have a power washer which has started to pulse when in standby, I noticed the detergent feed pipe is split from contact with abrasive ground, as this is on the same side as the high pressure hose, I suspect that this is causing a drop in pressure and hence the pulsing. What may you suggest the block the pipe or nozzle?
