Would like to get opions on washer dryers please.
have always had just a washing machine and as we live in a flat we dry the washing on a clothes horse in the hallway. The ceiling is getting a bit mouldy - I guess from the moisture of always having wet clothes there.
Washing machine needs replacing now so thinking about a washer dryer (don't have room for seperate washer and dryer) but have heard from several people they are just hassle and dont work that well anyway.
Moving in 2 years time hopefully when we will have room for seperate appliances and a garden. Should we just carry on as we are ?
What would you buy ?

get the best quality washer you can afford.
DON'T buy a washer dryer they are SO much hassle and they don't dry as much as they wash IYSWIM?
For the one my MIL has, it'll happily wash 9kg but can only dry 5kg so you have to half empty it to dry the load or only wash half the load.

I've just left a flat and I've left my washer dryer as it was useless. The washer was fine but with less features but the dryer was useless. Have you tried a dehumidifier?0

Can honestly say getting a washer dryer was the best thing ever!
Our old one gave up a couple of months ago after 6 years of use. It arrived 3 days before baby number 2 was born, so 2 kids - 2 sets of washable nappies from day 1 to wash and dry and coped just fine with the hard work it was put through. After 6 months, it was only 1 set of washable nappies to wash for the next 2 years as well as all the baby gros, toddler clothes and our stuff.
Worked a treat for over 6 years. Washing machine we had prior to that lasted 5 years before it needed replacing.
Old washer dryer was 6kg wash load, 4 kg dry load - though we probably put in about 5kg wash and then set it straight to dry.
Just bought this 7kg wash, 5kg dry as more size was needed for the growing family - clothes are bigger now! Washes and dries really quickly, quiet when it's running and the spin speed means we can stop the cycle before drying as some of the items have been spun dry we can extract them as they don't need drying
Sounds like you don't have anywhere to dry outside to me and lets face it, a bill to repair a damp problem + a new washing machine is probably going to be more expensive than a washer dryer which may not last very long.
Washer dryer certainly gets my vote.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

As stated above, you can typically dry only half a wash load.
And when one function fails, you lose the ability to do either. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
