Complete home refurb.
I'm going to have to do a complete upgrade on my home this year and of course want to do as much non-tech prep work as possible. The house is basically sound, but very much stuck in the 80's/90's. Is there an order in which things need to be done:building, electrics, plumbing, etc? I just want to rip it all back to the…

Problem with bath hot water tap
I'm having trouble with the bath hot water tap. The hot water runs but then slows down to a trickle then quickens up again. Other taps in the house seem unaffected. The tap does seem a little stiff. Combi boiler with no tank. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Help, painting disaster!
A couple of years ago we replastered the spare room and painted over it. All was good until this weekend, we have decided to paint over it. Disaster because the fresh paint is bubbling and is pulling off the paint underneath. Hubby is up there with a scraper scraping all the new paint (as well as the old paint) off. Now…

Advice pls - Boiler & electrics
Hi I'm thinking of getting my boiler replaced in feb/march but I know that I also need to modernise the electrics & fusebox at some point. Will it be ok to get the boiler done first or should it be the electrics then the boiler? I wont be able to afford to get both at the same time at the minute. thanks

Sink waste
I'm looking to do up my bathroom but the armitage shanks white toilet and sink seem fine except I hate the gold taps & flush handle. I know I can change these but what about the gold centre waste and plug chain holder in the sink? Sorry if this sounds petty but last time I replaced AS in the ensuite my plumber said I was…

Primatic water system anyone???
Hi we are in the process of replacing our Aga (for another!), which led to us having to weigh up our hot water system. I am ashamed to say that we had no clue how the aga provided us with gallons of hot water and now that we know that we have a single feed indirect system (primatic?) we are faced with a problem. We bought…

The price for 16 units and worktops (no appliances)…

Help plumbing tips!
Hi! I have hot water running but no cold water. Luckily had a shower before this problem started. Heard a noise as if the central heating was coming on. Then went to bathroom, no water. Same downstairs. Is this an air block or empty tank? The tank is nearly level with the ceiling so god knows how I'll look into it! No…

Tall Headboard and Stairs
I am looking to buy one of those big (tall) padded headboards (the ones that go down back of bed to the floor). I suddenly wondered how on earth it would go up the stairs? My stairs are partly blocked in at the bottom with an open landing rail at the top but halfway up the stairs, the ceiling drops down a section.…

Problem with Zanissi Frost Free Fridge Freezer in unheated utility
Hello, I hope someone can advise me or help find a solution to my problem. In mid october I managed to pursuade my elderly aunt to buy a fridge freezer to keep in the house so she doesn't have to go out to the freezer in the garage on freezing winter nights because I'm afraid she may have a fall. There was no room in the…
