Problem with bath hot water tap

I'm having trouble with the bath hot water tap. The hot water runs but then slows down to a trickle then quickens up again. Other taps in the house seem unaffected. The tap does seem a little stiff.

Combi boiler with no tank.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Carp in pipework or knackered washer in headgear if conventional tap or knackered ceramic disk if 1/4 turn tap.

    Cheers

I have a sink right next to the bath and that seems fine. If there was junk in the pipe I imagine it would have to be in that 3 foot long run. Is there any way to get it out without changing the pipework?

Also if it is the headgear can I just change the washer or should I get one of those tap reviver kits? The tap has been on that bath for a long time so I imagine the washer would be 3/4 inch. Does that sound right?

The tap doesn't seem to open as far as the others in the bathroom.

    Thanks

More than likely tap washer or ceramic disc, easy diy job, washers cost pennies, ceramic disc insert more expensive,if the latter, take the whole insert with you to plumbers merchant to get correct type. Don't forget to turn water off before you strip down tap, you would be suprised how many don't ;)

If its anywhere it'll be close to the tap but with your additional information below I've refined my diagnosis anyway.
Also if it is the headgear can I just change the washer or should I get one of those tap reviver kits? The tap has been on that bath for a long time so I imagine the washer would be 3/4 inch. Does that sound right?
Then you can forget the ceramic disk option particularly as:
The tap doesn't seem to open as far as the others in the bathroom.
I would say you have a nerfed tap washer thats probably partially broken up. Yes it will be 3/4 inch. Just replace that and while you are about it service the headgear. If you go for a tap reviver kit there is no guarantee that the splining on the top of the new headgear will match your tap handle.

    Cheers
