Dishwasher Takes 4 hours
Hi, I have a 6 year old Bosch dishwasher that suddenly has started to take more than 4hrs to complete the cycle. There are 3 settings that usually take from about 40mins to 1 hour 30 mins, but all are now taking more than 4 hours. I have checked that the drain is not blocked and there seems to be a plentifull supply of…

Changing UPVC Front Door Handle/Lock
Our UPVC front door is unusual. It has a multi-point lock. You shut the door and then lift the handle to secure it. However, this doesn't lock it. You can still just walk in from outside using the handle, unless the door has been locked with a key from the inside. It's a PITA to constantly use a key to get out of the…

Help! Hedgehog taken up residence in dining room
I heard some odd noises from my downstairs bathroom a couple of evenings ago and the next morning, came down to find "deposits" on the floor. Couldn't work out what it was until I was in the kitchen late that night, turned round and found a hedgehog on the kitchen floor looking at me! I managed to get it outside and it…

New kitchen - advice?
Hi I'm trying to source a new kitchen. What we want is high-gloss, really good/smooth finish. What we need is CHEAP! The cheapest I've seen seems to be Wickes' Miami, but I suspect it would look as cheap as it is? So we've visited B&Q & had a 'design consultation' at Homebase - I was surprised how limited their options…

Decorating or Central Heating first.
I'm currently planning to do up my house. I'm planning on getting Central heating fitted, but also the whole of the inside needs painting. What should I do first as people are telling me both things? If I paint first then I have access to everthing all the walls will be clear as there will be no radiators, but when the…

3 for 2 paint offers
Hi, we're renovating and will be needing a fair amount of paint soonish. We'd save a bit if we could get a 3 for 2 deal - does anyone know of any forthcoming deals? If so, we'd hold out for a bit! Thanks.

Any idea how much this would cost?
We've got 2 showers in the house, one has a broken thermostat so temperature is scorching and shower is unusable. The other shower has a low water pressure- literally drips. I would like an idea if a) I can fix this myself (would need guidance) and b) how much you think an estimate would come to? Thanks a lot :)

Bathroom suite: what parts do I need?
I'm looking to rip out my old bathroom suite, remove all the old timber cladding, fit a new suite, and tile all the walls. I'm keen to decide on the bathroom suite, shop around, and order them all online for the best prices I can get. I'll then get quotes for labour only. * a single-ended bathtub * a rainshower head…

Protex Thermal/Energy Solutions
I searched and couldn't find an existing thread on these guys so I'll start one. A check on Companies House website shows that these companies are owned by John William Gorman - one of the men behind Aquashield, at least in Scotland. They even operate out of the same premises. I had work done by Aquashield in 2009 -…

Steel v Cast Iron multi-fuel stove
I am finallising quotations to have a multi-fuel stove installed in my house and the favourite quote is from a UK manufacturer (yes there is one!) - my decision to probably go with the firm concerned is not based upon price but is due to the size of stove and aesthetic reasons. The firm concerned manufacture their stoves…

Pressurised HW system advise please
With my pressurised (domestic) hot water system the discharge pipe has suddenly started dripping 24/7. Cannot believe the system has failed as a fairly recent installation (but outside the guarantee period) and can only assume some adjustment required somewhere along the line (temp relief valve?) - water running at 1.5…
