Advice Needed over Rogue Trader
I had some expensive tiles laid in my hallway and need advice on how to address the shoddy work done. I went to a local tile outlet to see tiles, while there I spoke with a salesman who recommended a tiler whose business card (along with others) whose work was guaranteed by the store. When the tiler came to the house to…

Where to put a microwave
I'm planning a new kitchen and as it is small I do not want the microwave to be on the work top. I've decided against a tower with a built in oven and microwave as j think it would remove light from the room and again it will reduce work top space. Has anyone got / heard of / knows of a way to build in a microwave under…

Does anyone live near a main road??
Hi there I've just moved into our new house (Friday) and already I'm thinking that we've made a mistake. The house is a beautiful old cottage and everything about the house we loved, hence why husband and I bought it. However, the downside was that it is perched on the edge of an A road which is busy during rush hour…

Conservatory questions
Although we have been thinking of moving, things are still up in the air and our plan-B or staying put involves adding a decent size conservatory to back of house. Primarily to add some dining area space to house. House is a small mid terrace (no side access to back) and I envisaged a conservatory of about 2/3 width of…

Cheap Wood for Bench
Hello, I'm trying to get a hold of some wood for a bench I have had kicking about the garden since we moved in the house. The old wood on it was pretty worn away and missing panels but the two sides were wonderfully solid metal that we have salvaged. The only issue is getting wood for these now as I have been told I will…

mounting TV above radiator.
I'm Planning to put a mantel between the two for obvious reasons. The radiator has to be a 600mm high one for heat output, and can't be wider as it is along an alcove that we are planning to put an electric stove heater in the corner (for effect). How far above the radiator would you recommend having the mantel? I would…

Can you wallpaper over woodchip?
As the title says, we're looking for opinions on wallpapering over woodchip. We hate the stuff and it's on every ruddy wall in the house. We have taken it off our bedroom wall and prepped the disaster that we found underneath before putting a decent quality vinyl wallpaper over the top. However, getting it off was awful…
