Legislation Relating to Street Signage, Positioning etc

Options
Can anyone point me in the right direction of the legislation relating to where street signs can be places, size/height etc

They have recently put a mini roundabout at the junction outside my house which has resulted in a roundabout sign being placed outside my house against my boundary wall.

Admittedly it could have been worse and they could have placed it across the drive but it does seem to be over the boundary at the top and the size and illumination has completely changed the view from the front of my house.

Just wanted to check that all relevant measurements in terms of proximity to my house, the carriageway etc were legit

From memory I think these are the relevant regulations. You'll need to identify the appropriate sign but it's highly likely that the actual sign itself and its lighting is the correct size etc.

    Correct !

Signs can be different to those mentioned in the regs but they have to have had special permission from the DFT.

If you go into the council offices you can ask to see the TRO for that area just to make sure everything is correct.

I think it was more this I was concerned about, especially given there is little space in terms of driveway or garden at the front of my house and therefore the signs are quite close and virtually in the garden, by virtue of being up against the boundary wall.

I assume that the information signs have to be within a certain distance of the actual roundabout etc etc

I have raised it with the local highways department given that I have a number of concerns about the roundabout itself

We shall see what they come back with

I've never heard of any regulations about distance from roundabout, certainly not about where they are in relation to houses.

I suspect you're on a hiding to nothing on the legalities of the sign placement.
