Where to put a microwave

Options
I'm planning a new kitchen and as it is small I do not want the microwave to be on the work top. I've decided against a tower with a built in oven and microwave as j think it would remove light from the room and again it will reduce work top space. Has anyone got / heard of / knows of a way to build in a microwave under the counter top, or above the counter, so that I keep the worktops free.
I thought I could even have a shelf under the work top where I could just stand the microwave without having it inbuilt as such.

Thanks

I'm sure it would be OK on some strong wall-mounted brackets?

Thanks, yeah I could do that. It's probably the easiest and cheapest solution. I'd rather it be higher than in the picture to give me more room underneath. I've got some shelves so hopefully it could fit there. Will measure later

    Hi

As you are having a new kitchen then you can always get the designer to plan in a proper wall cupboard built in microwave. Most appliance makes do them, here is a picture and details of a Miele one.

I used to have a microwave under the worktop - and it worked really well. Kitchen has been changed since then and I wish I had the room for the same arrangement. It was just on a shelf where there was a space for a fridge.

    Hope it works for you.

I have mine in the bottom half of a wall cupboard, it's a deeper wallcupboard than average but on the end of a run of units. Used to have it on the microwave shelf brackets in #3 which was better than on the worktop.

The Miele microwave idea is just what I want. For those who have had a microwave below the counter, was it inbuilt or just in a cupboard / on a shelf. I think ventilation is an issue with a microwave?

    THANKS!!

Just on a shelf - with plenty of ventilation all round.

Mine's on a shelf - but in a wallcupboard without a back, and there's a gap of just over an inch between the shelf and wall.
